About Scott Beach
Author & Researcher
Scott Beach
Scott Beach is a registered pharmacist (RPh) and licensed chemical dependency counselor (LCDC-II) with clinical training in addiction medicine, pharmacology, and behavioral health. He is also the husband of a wife with Dissociative Identity Disorder — and it is from that second role that Lead with Safety was born.
The book grew from a single moment: the night a six-year-old Little looked up at him and said her favorite song was “The Little Fishy Song.” In that moment, everything he thought he understood about his marriage, about his role, about love itself, rearranged itself permanently. He went from knowing to feeling. And from that shift, a framework was built.
That framework — the Beach Safety Hierarchy — was formalized, researched, and published as the Beach Safety Hierarchy Assessment Scale (BSHAS), a validated five-level instrument for measuring nervous system readiness in trauma-affected intimate relationships.

The Work
Scott’s work exists at the intersection of clinical knowledge and lived experience — a combination that is rare in the DID space, where most resources come either from clinicians who have never been in the marriage or from partners who have experience but not the clinical background to formalize it.
Lead with Safety is the personal account. The BSHAS is the research. This hub is where both live together, alongside everything else that partners and families need to navigate this kind of life.
